The Gardens are open to the public from the 12th February – 16th June 2024.

Having had various social distancing restrictions in place over the past two springs, we cannot wait to welcome you all back to explore our beautiful gardens and reconnect with nature at Caerhays this season.

The gardens are looking incredibly beautiful this year and our magnolias are already starting to bloom – but there’s so much more to discover at Caerhays this spring than ever before!

Bloomin’ beautiful

Thanks to the temperate climate, spring arrives in Cornwall much earlier than the rest of the UK, and we’re pleased to say that we’ve already seen the first signs of colour in the gardens as our ‘Todd’s Fortyniner’ magnolia has produced its first blooms (documented on 11th January 2022). This is a good omen for the rest of the season, so we don’t think it will be long until the estate erupts into a riot of colour – and we anticipate the gardens being more colourful than ever!

New adventures

We’re very excited for families to experience our Nature Trail this year! Specifically designed to help little ones engage with local wildlife and plant life, and help them explore in a fun, interactive way, it encourages children to spot different woodland creatures hiding throughout the gardens. Although originally created in 2020, not many people have had the chance to enjoy this experience so far as coronavirus forced the gardens to close soon after! The Nature Trail is included in general admission prices.

On the big screen

We’re so excited to be featured in not one but two different television programmes this spring! We feature in the second series of Rick Stein’s Cornwall on BBC2, and then on A Year in Cornwall by the Sea on Channel 5! It was huge honour to be able to talk about our beautiful gardens and the history of Caerhays, and we hope everyone enjoys the shows. If you’re missing the gardens at Caerhays and unable to make it for a visit in person, be sure to catch us on your TV screen!

Summer fête

On the 12th of June we’ll be holding our charity fête for the first time in three years! It’s always a fun, family event – and close to Father’s Day too, so if you’re looking for a way to celebrate with the dads or granddads in your life, come on down for a traditional summer fête at the Estate. We’re still getting all the details in place, but previous years have featured treasure trails, traditional games and light refreshments. Keep an eye on our website for more information coming soon.

No restrictions for the first time in three years!

In 2020, no sooner had we opened our gates than the lockdowns meant we had to close, and in 2021 our doors were only open for local exercise and the rule of six – so it’s a real pleasure for us to be looking forward to a normal season for visitors here at Caerhays. As the majority of the experience is outdoors in the fresh air, making your visit to a Caerhays a socially distanced and safe one is a breeze.

The gardens reopen on Monday 14th February and the castle reopens for guided tours on Monday 14th March. Book your visit to Caerhays here.
